The latest version of IRender nXt has improved Caustics Reflections and Caustics Refractions.
If you want to try it, right click on the reflective or transparent object, select object properties and check Caustics.
Any transparent objects must be created with faces on both sides of the glass, and marked as "Thick Glass" under transparency.
I am still working on some good examples.
Here are some images from the nXt for AutoCAD forum and comments from Roy:
This one has an omni source with a glass cover. The glass cover is modeled correctly, as a solid with wall thickness. It has a pyramid bump on it-- X scale factor for the bump is larger. This one took forever for the indirect lighting to converge.
This one is some brandy snifters in the sunlight-- default Exterior preset.
