Hello,
I wanted to test daylight portal feature so, in the model below, (I cannot upload the sketchup model 94kb), I set the left window glass material to daylight, the right window not.
After 10 passes, I cannot see any difference. Is it normal?

ak ok. No problem.
From your point of view, path tracer is more interesting for artificial lightning scenes or natural lightning scenes?
I did have had the sun on, but it was behind the camera, so it was not shining into the windows.
But the idea is still the same.
Just use auto0-daylight portals on interior scenes with windows.
Auto-daylight portals, and daylight portals do not with the Path tracer engine. The path tracer processes light from all directions - one direction per pass - so it needs many more passes to resolve.
Here is that same scene rendered for 500 passes, (about 40 minutes), in the path tracer.
Ok AL,
Thanks
It will work eventually if you get all the settings right. But for interiors we recommend the Interior w/sun preset with the auto daylight portals left on.
Here is a similar scene with no daylight portals on the left and 10 passes
I tried to uncheck "Atomatic daylight portal" on the preset tab but don't see difference between the 2 windows.
Well, I suppose it's not so important in fact. Just for curiosity.
There is a setting "Automatic daylight portals" on the Preset setup tab.
You will have to uncheck it if you want to see how things work without daylight portals.
