  • I have Version 3.5 JK09.

The "Reset Color" option in the Material Editor does not change anything. I will download the latest version. Thanks for your help.

The reset color button is on the SketchUp Edit Materials dialog box - under edit

(Select the Model icon, then select the material, then select the Edit tab)

You you should not have to use it, but I want to see if it is related to the problem.

(Also try the Colorize check box)

We have been working on this problem for a while. Can you click the left hand icon on our toolbar and see what version it reports. If it is older than JL19, then download a new version from Downloads above.

  • Did you add any text to that last reply?

  • I am using Metals > Stainless Steel >Stainless Steel Satin-Plain.

The material looks correct in Sketchup when it is first applied. I do not see an option to "Reset Color" in my Material Editor window.

Tell me specifically which IRender material you used. (Please answer this first question. It makes it much easier for us to try the same thing.)

Did it look OK in SketchUp when you first placed it?

After saving and reloading the model, and after it appears almost black, load the SketchUp material editor for the material and see what happens if you select "Reset Color"

I have the same issue. For a test, I created a model with 2 cubes. I used the sketchup material on 1 and the Irender material on the other. I saved then closed the file. I re-opened the file to find the Irender material almost black. Right clicking on the Irender cube lets me choose the material and change its' color but not reload the original material. I have to go to the Load Material icon and re-choose the material and place it. I am then prompted to replace the material since it already exists.

  • Here is an example of a fancier gold material - it has a texture which it does load into SketchUp - and does render with a pattern.

  • There are a couple of things going on here.

    1. When you select a library material which is generated from a texture image, we are able to use the same texture image in SketchUp which creates a pretty good SketchUp material.

    2. When you select a library material which is just a color, or a color with special effects, then we place the materials base color on the SketchUp material. This may not look much like the nXt material, but is supposed to give you an idea of what material has been placed on it.

Here I placed a gold material, which placed a gold color in SketchUp, but renders with reflections and highlights.

However, the model you sent had the material in a much darker color.

    A. Did you make the color darker, or did it place that way the first time.

    B. You said that the material did not render properly if you saved the model and then re-loaded it.

Are you having problems when you save and reload a model - with either the SketchUp color on the material, or when rendering the model?
  • Make a small model for me (preferably a single face or small cube), place a material on it and send it to: support@renderplus.com so I can see what is going on.
