BTW, I see there is a proxy component wizard now. You need to update your site so I can link to that feature on the SketchUp Sage.
I updated the toolbar.
Check Out:
Proxy ComponentsAnd thanks for your comments - we almost never hear from anyone who is using RpTools. So tell us what you would like to see added or improved and we will see what we can do.
By the way, you do not need RpTools to create Proxy objects, users can do it them selves by creating low poly and high poly layers in their components. Rptools males it easy in a single step.
The use of layers makes it easy to switch back and forth between Lo and HI poly views.

Action to Take
You can replace the current component with a component of the same name with both LO-POLY and HI-POLY geometry stored in separate layers. Place the geometry of the original component in a group in the HI-POLY layer, and place new low-poly geometry in a LO-POLY layer.
LOW-POLY Display Mode
There are two proxy object modes:
- Criss-cross images - in which the component is replaced with a criss-cross of its thumbnail image.
- Wire frame block - in which the component is replaced with a wire frame block representing its extrema.
These are very low poly, but they will give you a sense of the size and shape of the original component, and will be much faster to display.
