IrenderNXT is all about processor performance (and RAM to some extent) The graphics card has no bearing on render speeds.
Just a thought but are you rendering with all your cores ?
If you go to NXT setup options (little yellow clipboard)
Then click 'More' you will see you have a choice of how many cores to use - make sure its set to all of them (or all but one if you want to do something processor intensive whilst the render is taking place in the background)
I think NXT defaults to using all cores but its worth checking.
