I've tried rendering with the windows as "thin glass" and changed the material to a light gray. In order to make them appear more as a "storefront glass;" do I need to add a few lights on the interior (if you have suggestions on which kind to use that would be helpful), and also add something on the background (HDRi) to get a reflective glare from them?

Try the HDRi for reflection.

Also make sure the Windows have a IOR setting of 1,25, or 1.50

And you can set reflection directly for the Windows on the Main material settings tab.

Finally, if there are no lights inside (which would be normal for a bright daylight scene), you can make the windows non-transparent - so that they only reflect.

But the biggest thing is to make sure the sky is on - whether HDRi or an automatic sky - so that there is something to reflect in the windows.
