The "trick" is to put a bump map texture on the surface of the water:
Adding special effects such as bump maps to water material is a great way to add realism because bump maps add depth and detail to materials. In the case of this model, the bump maps add the ripples on top of the water we are all use to seeing on any body of water like a lake or a pool.
Also, if your renderer has special water effects such a bump maps, then they can be used to make realistic water which will reflect buildings, sky and other background objects realistically.
See: Water Materials
Right click on the material in SketchUp to load the Edit or Create Material Wizard
On the Material Wizard use the Texture tab to set a Procedural Bump Map - but you do not need to add a texture.
These are examples of different settings of bump maps using the Wrinkled Procedural Bump Map to create a water effect. Notice how the sky and building are reflected in the water.
The larger scale would make more sense for larger bodies of water.
thank you sooooooooo much again.
you're a great help.
