My office has been working on a model of a 400 seat restaurant, with 7 rooms that depending on the rendering can be see in most views. The file is now 400mg. Is this insane to think we can now render this file. Do I need another rendering software.

For the last decade we have been modeling with AutoCad and rederings with NXT. We have made similarly big files, but have managed. This year we made the jump to Sketchup since most of our younger staff is proficient in it.

I have a major presentation a week from Thursday and now we are in a bit of a jam. At this point, i would hire another company to render this out for us or at least clean up our model? Any suggestions?

Garrett Singer.

Great big models take a long time to extract, and can take a long time to render.

If you can separate parts of your model which will not be included in  a particular rendering using layers that can be a big help.

Also, for the part of rendering where things get slow, or hang, during extraction, (rather than rendering), we have a new extraction process in Beta Test, which is considerable faster.

If you download the latest version from http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/download/, you can try it out.

I know it is hard to take the time to try new things when under time pressure, but I would give it a try and see if it works for you.

Also be sure you have a 64-bit processor with 8GB (preferable 16GB) Ram.

If the job is important, I would run over and get a new computer so you have extra resources to help with the renderings.
