Soft edges

I would like to know how can I make softer edges? It refers to Textile, and Furniture, to give it more Realistic look.

Please upload an example image, using the image icon on the toolbar above the editor, so we can see what you mean.

Are you using edge lines, or are you referring to the edges formed naturally by intersecting surfaces?

As you look at the items, they don't seems real since their edges are very sharp.

The chair and the green sofa has no softness. there for, it doesn't look real.

is there anything to do? and how?

The wall with the painting is white before rendering (as all the other walls) and it become gray after rendering. What did I do wrong?

Can you change the view to render just the chair and sofa so we can see them better.

And render to 600px width so I can see the detail better.

There are two things to try

1. let it render for more passes - say 100 - to see if the additional indirect light helps.

2. Look at the SketchUp model to see if the objects have hard edges in SketchUp. (You might grab an image from the SketchUp scene after you zoom in on the objects and let us see what it looks like.) You may have to add a bevel or some smoothness to the SketchUp model to let it carry over into the rendering.

For surfaces which intersect at a 60 degree angle or less, you can select multiple surfaces, right click on them and smooth them in SketchUp.

Unfortunately, we don't apply simple smoothing to surfaces which interested at 90 degrees, so you will have to bevel them some other way. It looks like Follow Me is a good way to do this. But I almost never use it. Can someone else offer some advice?

Hello May, for the model I like Fredo6's "roundcorner" over at the Sketchucation Fourm site. This is where I get most of my plugins. Fredo6, Chris Fullmer, Thomthom, TIG, DidierBur and others have some truly lifes aving plugins. Here is the link for the "roundcorner" plugin... this is perfect for furniture.
