Hello

does anyone know if it is possible to assign a unique id to groups / components in a model of sketchup using space design?

What I mean is an id which you are sure that nothing else has the same. thanks

We have a number of attributes extracted from SketchUp - like $layer, $dname for component name, etc.

We do noe have one for the SketchUp Object ID, which is unique for each different thing. But we could add that if it would help you out.

Thank you for your answer Al,

what I need is not referred to sketchup entities' attribute, but a spacedesign attribute that could help me to report exactly EVERY different object like walls or slab or windows present in the model.

An attribute that is a UNIQUE_ID and that cannot be replicated anyway

I could assign these for a single report, but do you want them to be saved in SketchUp and then use the same value for the next report.

The "best" way to do this might be to assign a UUID (universally unique identifier), to each item which can be reported. But, unless SketchUp does this for us, it is difficult to control if the user then duplicates an item, or saves the database, and then reloads it with a new name, etc.

We may have to think of a  different way to accomplish what you are trying to do.
