Hi there, again me.
I have a library of about 600 models (skp) which I already use with RpReports for some years now.
After the update to Google Sketchup 8 and Spacedesign I have to get rid of all the old entered attributes and add new ones with the same values to the components or I can convert them from RpReports-attributes to Space Design-attributes?
If I have to add them again, how can I clean out the old ones and add the new ones distributed by an csv-file?
If I can convert them, how would this be done?

Hi Al,
cool, thanks for the reply. I will test this and let you know if it's working.

It looks like "Auto Generate Attributes" still works.
See: http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/wk/Auto_Generate_Attributes.php
You place each of the new components in a model, then extract a CSV file of your attributes from the components, edit it in excel, reload it, and then resave the components, with the attributes, into a "local collection". It looks like SketchUp will save each .SKP file with the proper attributes.
When you are ready try it with a few (3 or 4) and see if it works for you.
"Auto Generate Attributes" is available as a drop-down on the SketchUp Plugins menu
If not, we will write it. Let me take a look.
Hi Rich,
very cool. With this method I can use all my old models and don't have to apply all the attributes again.
There might be a new customer who wants to use Space Design with an amount of several hundred components witch attributes are provided from a database. When I used RpReports Al gave me a tool to add the attributes by comparing the components name from the filename and from a CSV file. Is there still something like this available?

Til
Hi Rich,
thanks for the update. I will download the new version, test it and give you a report of how it worked out.
Cheers,
Tilman
We posted a new version with a fix for this. We now look for any RpReports attributes on a component or group, if there are no SpaceDesign attributes yet, and convert them to SpaceDesign attributes before we make a report, or edit attributes, etc.
This works for me after I save the settings from your new model as my default settings from your new model.
Then when I start a new model or load an old one that has a component with RpReports attributes in it, I get those attribute values reported in SpaceDesign.
Please see if this works for you.
I did notice tat the attribute names "mat_nr" in the new model from SpaceDesign, was called "mat-nr" (with a hyphen) in the old RpReports component, so I had to change the default attribute to "mat-nr" to get it to work.
Let us know if that would be a problem for you, in case we need to add a workaround for this.
Sure, I will send you two models. One with the old attributes and one with the new ones.
Thanks,
Til
Operatorone,
Could you possibly send me one of those models, and any corresponding attribute files, so that I could write something to automatically import those attributes into SpaceDesign Attributes?
That would really help.
Thanks,
Rich
