Hi there

Im trying to re-create black glass with a very high reflection, but when I select black it just seems to come out looking like a mirror. Any suggestions for settings?

Cheers

Hi Carl

Funny enough I have just produced a render with black reflections - I did this in the following image by putting a mirror element on floor and surrounded it with a matt black box - there are some things to watch here - with this scenario the objects tend to be overexposed due to floor reflectivity and the matt black reduces the hi-lite elements of metallic objects - to make this image work I produced 2 renders one with `black box` and 1 with furniture only then overlayed one over other via transparent png in photoshop.

Basically the mirror effect is an HDRI reflection - if you reflect something black into - a black object opposite for example it it should work - alternatively set as `metallic`and use a very dark grey i.e RGB 1-1-1. I have had a few problems trying to get a pure black colour to have a metalic finish (I have heavily reduced transparency of reflections layer in image below)

Hope this helps
