Hi Al
Sorry if this discussion doubles up with project sketch query
I have a quite a few jobs which require photo realistic output but require several finished renders with different colour options to furniture - would it be feasible to consider a `lighting channels` set up where the channels would control colour specific to certain materials ? - I could then change furniture colours post render in image editor
I knw I am never satisfied !
Thanks

Material Channels are in the latest Beta.
The Lighting Channels are numbered 0 to 7, because programmers like to use arrays, and the first array element is 0, hence: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
The number of channels is 1 to 8, because if you use channel 7 then you need 8 channels.
I am adding another thread on how to run multiple versions at the same time: how-to-run-2-versions-of-nxt
Is the material channels available in the latest Beta Version?
I'm with you (as I suggested in the past) that we need gobs of lighting channels
Speaking of which, why are the channels 0-7 in the setup and 1-8 in the render channels?????

Theoritically this could be done. I placed the bulbs red, green, and blue in about the same position and in different lighting channels. (This would be the same as applying three lighting channels to a single light). I was able to adjust the tint of the overall light by adjusting the three channels.
If Roy would give us 8, 16, or 64 more channels, (unlikely), the we could assign multiple channels to each light.
All colors on:
Red channel made more intense:
Just "thinking out side if the box"
Is there no way to do the same with the light channels and add a colour changing option them as well?
Sorry...
I cannot wait - I am working on a series of renders this weekend beacause the client requires same image with different COLOUR walls so I have have to render twice - will be a big boost
Thanks

I changed the name from Colour Channels to Material Channels (so i wouldn't have to figure our how to spell color.
I'm pretty excited that this works well for glowing images as well - to let you adjust the intensity of the glow.
(See final image in this post. Where I used Material Channels to lower the luminance of the material applied to the CRT screen - which had a 20% glow. The lower luminance is below the blue line.)
(This example was "hardwired" to set the color to RGB(200,50,50) - just so I could see the color change work. I need to add a dialog to let you move the RGB sliders. Also I want to be able to browse for an image, and grab the "average" RGB of he image to set the RGB of the rendering.
I posted an example which had some problems because of reflections as well as reflected lighting. I'll post a better example next where everything works better. (Based more on our Office Furniture models)
Any chance of a beta version to play with ?
