I'm an working on my senior interior design project and I'm having trouble with my glass. I want it to be completely transparent but it's turning out black and very reflective with little transparency. My Curtain wall leading to the exterior is transparent however. I'm not really sure how to fix this considering this is my first time using I-render. I have tried changing both the material setting and render settings. I have increased and decreased the transparency and/or refraction levels.... maybe you can help? You can just barely see inside of my studio and elevator. When I set the refraction to 1 it was completely solid. This is set at 5. But as you can see the window in the back is clear. This setting is indoor and outdoor light.

This is the unrendered image in sketchup. I even changed the transparency to 100....
To make the glass completely transparent, don't use colored or black glass since colored or black glass cannot be completely transparent. Only setting the color to white, (255, 255, 255), can be completely transparent.
Try starting with these settings:
Right click on the blackglass material and select IRender nXt/Edit Material
Make sure the color is not totally black, RGB(0,0,0). try setting the color to (80, 80, 80) to start. Or start with white (255, 255, 255).
Make sure that the transparency is set to 100% (1.0) on the Trans tab. You might want to turn of Refraction also (set Refraction to 1.0 to do that.)
Turn off Reflection Intensity on the Main tab (set to 0.0).
If you really want color in the class in SketchUp, check this option from Support on the Options/More tab, so that we will use less of the color at render time:
Also, make sure that Use Auto reflection is not chcked on the Options/Render tab.
Once you get transparent glass in the rendering, you can start adding color (blackness) and reflection back until you get the look that you want.
Thanks! I will try that.. My only concern is that the curtain wall in the background is the same glass as the ones in the foreground and that glazing is showing up transparent.. I used the glass that is loaded into the sketchup model as is. The clear/transparent glass. I will try what you told me and see if it works
The image you show above that shows our material dialog, titled "Material Properites", says that you are editing a materials called "glassssss".
But the SketchUp material dialog show the Material called "Translucent_Glass_Gray", so there is some confusion here about what material you're seeing in the rendering and what material you're editing.
Our material dialog says that you are running version "MB18", posted last February. Is there a reason why you're not running the latest version?
Is it possible to send me the model and I'll take a look?
