SketchUp 8

SketchUp 8 incorporated a new version of Ruby which requires that you will need to install new versions of most Render Plus applications. You can download the latest version from: Downloads.

SketchUp Versions

When SketchUp releases a new version, you will need to reinstall your Render Plus Applications to use the new version. (Or you can copy some files from the old SketchUp plugins folder to the
new folder.)

Downloads

Click on Downloads and select the latest version of IRender nXt (currently JJ26)

Reinstalling

The latest version gives you a chance to select a SketchUp version for installation even when updating an old installation, so you do not have to uninstall and reinstall to change versions anymore.

If you need to uninstall and reinstall, follow these steps:

1. Uninstall the application. This will remove it from the old version of SketchUp.
To uninstall, download the latest version, and if it offers
Reinstall/Uninstall - choose Uninstall. If the only option is install -
then skip this step 1.
2. Re-install it selecting the new SketchUp location.

If you uninstall and reinstall, then when you install later upgrades,
they will install into the proper version of SketchUp. (You will be
prompted for the SketchUp version - choose SketchUp 8)

Using multiple versions of SketchUp

The latest version gives you a chance to select a SketchUp version for installation even when updating an old installation, so you do not have to uninstall and reinstall to change versions anymore.

You should be able to install it for one SketchUp version, and then install it again for the other SketchUp version.

    God bless you!

  • I believe the answer is to use a combination of Sun, Clouds, and Sky that produces the kind of shadows that you would like to see.

Here are some rendered images just the sun, the sun with clouds at 62%, the sun and HDRi sky (30 and 60% intensities respectively), and just the Automatic sky.
