lighting

I have added a bunch of can lights to my drawing from the Render Ready Light components in iRender. I can see the lights at the ceiling, but they don't appear to do much to the scene. I also added a 4'x2' light box inthe upper left corner to test what that would do. The light box I check "make bulb invisible", the can lights I left visible. The 4'x2' light box I added didn't add any light to the end rendering. I also put a 4'x2' light box at the back of the drawing in the kitchen to help light up that space, but it also doesn't appear to have done anything.

In the tutorials that I watched, you can change the wattage of the light, however, in my dialog box it only asks for lighting intensity and color.

I had sketchup 2014 open the first time I used iRender, but now I am using Sketchup2016 for my drawings.

I have attached drawing if it helps. Any other sugestions on my drawing are alway welcome.

Thanks!

Not sure what happened, but there wasn't anything in that .skp file that you attached here, inside the .zip file. It opened as a SketchUp model OK, but it had no geometry in it.

  • Wow. That's great. Thanks! Light Balancer was the answer to this question. I tried to change into Watts via the Setup Options as you show above, but my dialog box does not offer that... (not sure how to paste the picture like you did as I get a error that "number of characters exceeds the maximum, so I have attached pic)

Also, curious if you have any suggestions as to why the tile in my sketchup drawing does not render at all in the iRender. I have attached sketchup file as suggested.

  • Maybe you could attach a sample model to this post. You can do that by putting a .skp file in a .zip file and using the Upload Files option under the Reply box. It's hard for me to tell if there is light coming from the ceiling lights by looking at the picture.

You can tell in the rendering window by using the Light Balancer dialog to turn off other channels to see what's going on.

The intensity of the lights are shown in Lumens by default now. If you want to work in Watts you can do that here:
