New sharing network for SketchUp users

I really like the way the new Ning network has worked for IRender nXt.

I am considering setting up a similar network for SketchUp users to share their work - not a help forum - but a place to create your own page, upload images, and share ideas with other users.

I have created a prototype of what this would look like.

Concept

This is not intended to be a forum for SketchUp users - but rather a place for users to create their own page, post their work, comment on others work, etc. But it a more social format then is provided by posting things in a traditional forum.

If you think it might be a good idea, join, and add an image, a forum comment or something.

Moderators

I would prefer that the network was operated and moderated by SketchUp users, rather than by a commercial interest like Render Plus. If my having started it is too prejudicial, I can start it over again letting the moderators post the original content.

If you would like to serve as a moderator, let me know. (Moderators don;t have to do much - but they should help monitor postings to prevent abuse - and hopefully participate with comments and ideas)

If you become a moderator, I will let you help choose the other moderators, help set up the rules and guidelines for the new network, etc.

SketchUcation

I originally presented this idea to SketchUcation in hopes that they see the difference between a social network like this and a forum, and add it to SketchUcation. Their response was that they might want to do something similar, but that if they did it through Ning they would not have enough control.

 Ning makes good networks, and if we don't do this first, some else will decide to do it.

I am still prepared to turn it over to SketchUcation if they want to add it to their offering, (but not if they just want to kill it).

Advertising

After I officially launch it, this network will run Google advertising to help pay for the network.
