  • We uploaded a new version, KD06, with the fix for this.

We now don't actually load our DLL until you click on the first button on our toolbar or menu, so it shouldn't hang SketchUp as it did for you.

Please download and try the latest version, KD06, from this link:

    http://www.renderplus.com/php/download_links.php

  • Please try these steps to see why 3D PDF is hanging SketchUp for you. Perhaps we can get an error message, or a clue as to where is it hanging.

    1. Rename the file named "Rp3DPdf_loader.rb" in the SKetchUp 8/Plugins folder to

    Rp3DPdf_loader.rb_renamed

    2. Then start SketchUp, Open the Ruby console and Enter (using single quote marks):

    load 'Rp3DPdf_loader.rb_renamed'

    3. See if any errors appear in the Ruby console. I see this:

    **** Loading: C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Rp3DPdf_loader.rb_renamed
C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Render Plus/Rp3DPdf.rb:81: warning: don't put space before argument parentheses

    4. Then enter in the Ruby console:

    load 'Render Plus/Rp3DPdf.rb'

    5. Look for errors. I see:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Render Plus/Rp3DPdf.rb:81: warning: don't put space before argument parentheses

    6. Then look under Plugins for:

    Rp3dPdf:Load

If it is there, click on it.

    7. Look for any error messages. I see:

    8. Finally, use copy and paste, or a screen capture, to send me any errors or other information that you can get.

    Send it to me, at:

      rich.hart@renderplus.com

    Thanks.

  • No. I just installed it on a clean machine with only WIndow 7 - 64 bit, and SketchUp 8 on it, and it installed and worked OK here.

Could you possibly try these steps, to see if we can get a clue as to what is different on your machine?

Reinstall RPS 3D PDF, so that SketchUp will fail.

    Then Start SketchUp this way:

Open a Command Prompt window.   Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt

    Enter:

      cd %TEMP%

to go to your TEMP folder.

    Then enter:

     "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\sketchup.exe" > skp_dbg.txt

to start SketchUp. This will send any SketchUp error messages to a text file.

I assume SketchUp will not open and just freeze.

    Close SketchUp.

Then attach that text file, "skp_dbg.txt", to an email and send it to me, at:

      rich.hart@renderplus.com

  • I am having the exact same problem - have you had any luck resolving it?
  • Could you try this to see if we get any error messages that are useful?

Maybe there will be an error message in there that will give us a clue.

  • Thanks for the information, but I have already tried all of your common sence suggestions, but unfortunately these did resolve the issue.
  • I would try these steps:

    1: Close all applications

    2. Un-install RPS 3D PDF - use the Remove Option from our Installation file.

    3. Delete the folder where RPS 3D PDF installed, Usually it's

            C:\Program Files\Render Plus Systems\3D_PDF

or, if you are on a on a 64 bit machine:

            C:\Program Files (x86)\Render Plus Systems\3D_PDF

    4. Remove any files with "Rp3DPdf" in the name in the SketchUp Plugins folder, usually:

            C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins
       or
            C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins

       Files like: Rp3DPdf_loader.rb.

Also remove any files with "3DPdf" in them in the "Render Plus" folder in the plugins folder.

       Files like Rp3DPdf.rb.

    5. Reboot to make sure nothing is running.

    6. Reinstall RPS 3D PDF. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator when you install it.
