Hi, I have a problem when rendering glass which shows the final result with a white border around the glass. Do not use images or background colors and reflects other things quite well.

If anyone knows how to fix it, I would appreciate if you could tell me how.

Thanks!

Can you upload an image (use the image icon at the top of the reply window)

Probably we will need a model to check out as well. Try to make is as small as possible, and either upload it here, or use the Uploads tab at the top of this page. (If you use the Upload tab be sure to add a comment to remind uis what the model is for)
I think this problems ocurrs when rendering glass from the inside to the outside of a model. I attached 3 images of a kitchen to show you the problem.

Thanks.

[Edit: I added your images to the post directly, so they are easier to see. TO do this in the future, use the image icon, (above the reply area), rather than the upload attachment function]

Can you strip out everything except the walls and window and send me the model so I can see what is wrong. Or else create a new, smaller, model, with just walls and the window.

I will be checking your thick/thin glass settings. (If each pane of glass is thick - with two faces in SketchUp for one pane of glass, then you need to set it as thick).

I will also be checking the sun, sky, and background settings, etc.
Here it goes.... the same model, only with windows and walls.

For some reason, I cannot access the attachment.

Can you email it to support@renderplus.com

Thanks,

Of course...
First, I notice that you were rendering this with an old version of IRender nXt - JB25 - from Feb 2010.

Can you try it with the latest version?

Here is my rendering of scene 3 after 40 passes. Is this better than you have been getting?

I could try but I don't think I can update it. I purchased it in september 2009, and you have only a year of "free updates"... It's not my decision in the office to buy programs, so... what's the cost of upgrading to the new version? Maybe I get lucky...

Still, looking at your render, windows look "strange" when there's nothing pass them, like sand effect... that's how irender sees the background?
The cost to Upgrade IRender nXt to the latest version is $175.00 - See: Upgrades

What you see "in the windows" is the reflection of other items in the room.

Here is a different view with the ceiling removed with a section plane:
(Note: your model had an open space above the windows - that is what you would see if the windows had no reflection.)

Clearly, this version has a better definition of the windows reflect that previous version (my version).
I need the upgrade, that's for sure.

Here goes a new render of the same view.... i can't get rid of those white edges!
Could it be because the window is between white faces?

I was told that the new version would have an option to change the dpi of the images rendered, is it so?
are you referring to the write, vertical frames or the white dots?

the vertical frames are a result of all the light coming from the window. Try adding some interior lighting, such as a ceiling lamp, to balance it. Also this may be a good time to use Lighting Channels to let you balance the interior lights against the sun and sky.

We do not set DPI in IRender nXt. But you can render at a higher resolution and use an imaging editing program to change the dpi.
Not the white dots... the vertical frames at the left of the window outside, even with interior lightning those frames appeared. Maybe it's too much light that the frame is receiving.

Is there a tutorial to show me how to manage the lightning channels?
