Al:

Tried out this new tool. When I save the pdf, it doesn't show the full model.....some portions of it are missing completely. I saved it as a pdf while the model was still being rendered but was several passes into the process (5 or so).

What do I need to do to fix this issue?

Also, the 3d model pdf has a pretty poor image as compared to the regular image. I'm not feeling too comfortable sending the interactive model to a client due to this issue. Any plans on improving this?

Thanks in advance for your help on the first issue.

Send your PDF to rich.hart@renderplus.com so he can take a look at it. Rich will be back in the office next week.

We don't have a good way to make an interactive 3D presentation from rendered images. We can only use the basic SketchUp geometry.

You can create an animation from rendered images but we can't find a way to place the animation into PDF.

Regarding your first issue, there is a setting on the options tab to Export 2-sided faces. This will help if some triangles or faces are reversed. Check it and see if that helps.

We posted a new version with a fix for the missing faces.

Please download and try it from:

Thanks for lending us you model for testing.

Hey im having a probelm making them come out of 3d pdf and irender. Can you let me know what a few good steps are to make the 3d plan crisp and look good for clients.

Cheers,

Shaynes:

If you get the SketchUp monthly newsletter via email (comes with SketchUp Pro) look up an article by Aidan Chopra in there. He describes quite clearly how to give your plans (and sections) a super crisp look by making the inside face of the walls, floors, etc. the color black. This way, when you cut a section through the model for plan or section, the walls and floors, etc are filled in completely in black. Works best if you use the monochrome face setting as well.

The other way I know of is to make the section cut edges thicker. You can set the edge thickness in the Window>Styles dialog box.....select EDIT and then pick the Model Settings Icon (blue cube) and set the the "Section Cut Width" to a heavier number.
