I have a question.

I am working with a complex dynamic component of a piece of furniture. It has many nested levels and many hardware components etc which are not actually visible in the final view which I am rendering. The problem I have is that it takes an enormously long time to write the geometry for  all these unseen components. Is there any way it can work on just the visible components?

Does right clicking and selecting "Render Selection" help?

After Selecting everything visible, of course.

- Otherwise you can "hide" everything not in the scene, or put it in layers which you can turn off.

Unfortunately, we cannot simply leave out geometry which is not visible in SketchUp - because it may effect lighting or reflections. However, we could consider a checkbox to only render visible geometry for special cases.

After reading your query more carefully, it sounds like the undesired geometry is in a dynamic component.

Is there a way to toggle the visibility of sub-components in a DC, so you could turn them off prior to rendering?

Or can you place some sub-components into layers which you could turn off?
