How can I create a gobo pattern on the walls – often times we need to display to the client what their gobo may look like BEFORE they purchase it, so it’s crucial to have some resemblance of it in the rendering. I have not been able to figure out a way to do this in irender xnt.

To create a Gobo pattern, place use an alpha-transparent image and place it on a face.

Here I used a pattern of a leaf, using alpha-transparency where the light should pass through.

The "trick" is to make the light itself very small. Here I usd a 0.1" diameter spot light. I wider light will work, but the shadows will be fuzzier because of the light coming from various places on the bulb.
