1)Lighting Issue

While on the trial version of IRender nXt on SU, I watched all the posted videos about the software.  Since buying the software and getting into the lighting, I've run into the same issue a couple times.

I've made a showcase cabinet...glass shelves, glass doors, and a 1" x 2' light inside.  When I created my rectangular light, my settings were as follows:

L - 2', W - 1", Glue to Surface - Yes, Intensity - 45Watts, Comp. Placement Mode - Single, Channel - 7.

I also have ceiling lights in my scene that I've set up on a seperate channel.   There, I'm using Rectangular and round lights all at 100 Watts.  When I rendered the first time, my cieling lights were off and my cabinet light was on...and very intense.  I've gone inside my cabinet, right clicked on the light, and checked out the Irender properties of the light.

Same light created by the specs above now says:

Light Type: None

Light Direction: Blue (correct)

Intensity: 100 Watts???? (when I try to correct this and reset to the above intesity, it won't take)

Also, post render...when I go in to adjust the sliders in the light menu, the Lights I made on channel 7 are not there

What do I need to do to fix this and get my cabinet light to be no where near as strong as ceiling.

2: Animation issue

I've been animating sequence of scenes and stopped it at 21 hours because the lights were too dim.  Are there any particular settings for animating that recommended versus just doing a still shot of a room.  The still rendering came out lit very well.

1)Lighting Issue

I've tried to duplicate what you ran into with the cabinet lights, and can't so far.

If you're placing ceiling lights from our Light Fixtures dialog, I would edit their intenstity using the right Click "Edit IRender Lamp". It sounds like your using the object properties dialog, which is meant to give you a way to make a light out of geometry from some other source, so that you can just click on a face in an object and make it a lamp. Having several ways to create lamps surely adds to the confusion, but perhaps that's whats happening here.

2: Animation issue

The lighting for an animation should be teh same for a still rendering and an animation. If you're doing fewer passes in the animation, it's possible that all of the lights have not been activated yet. If so, try increasing the Lights per Pass setting on the options/Render tab.

For both of these issues you might want to send us a model that I can test here, to see if I can duplicate what you're seeing. Especially for the Cabinet light that is no longer in Lighting Channel.
