Can you post the model so that one of us can take a look at the problem?

Or upload it to:

http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/uploads/

to send it just to Render Plus Software.

Thanks,

Rich

Model has been sent

I haven't really been able to do too much with this model, since it takes so long to extract for me between investigations. I do see that if I turn the Light Balance way up, then I can start to see the lights in the tents.

Hopefully I might get a chance later this week to trim this model down to a single tent and light and see what the settings would need to be to get the effect that tyou are looking for.

What can i do to make the model smaller for you to extract?

Maybe just ave a single tent and light in it.

Then we could play with the settings and see what they need to be.

If you could upload a sample file here onto the forum, perhaps others could try it too, to see what needed to be done.

I believe you can put an .skp file in a .zip file and upload it to a reply here.

I'm not sure just what we want to accomplish.

First, I took the SketchUp model selected everything, copied it to the windows clipboard, opened a new SketchUp drawing, and pasted the model into it.

This has the effect of resetting any settings which may have been made (except things in the geometry)

Then I rendered the model, and got this rendering.

This is probably correct, because with a tent in the sun, you wouldn't necessarily see the lights in the tent.

Then I cut the sun way down using lighting channels. (Notice that I unchecked "Lock Luminescence" which lets the picture itself remain at the same overall brightness, which lowering the amount of sunlight, andraising the amount of artificial light. And I got this result:

Then I lowered the overall brightness to 45% to get a darker image:

I have attached the SketchUp model after making these changes:

Couldn't resist testing this model.

No sun - natural light is from HDRi sky/background.  Didn't make any adjustments to lighting, but I did change the top of the tent, used "Edit Material" and selected the Preset "Shade" - which causes the tent fabric on the top to behave as a lamp shade.  Then just rendered.
