Possible to render more than one batch render simultaneously?

Hi There

I just want to know if it's possible to render more than one batch render at the same time and what effects this would have on my render time?

I have tried before to render more than one but previously it has closed the current render to start the new one. I could juts be showing my ignorance but is there maybe an option I'm not seeing in my settings?

We don't recommend trying to perform two renderings at the same time from the same machone.

The easiest way to start two renderings at once is to exit and restart SketchUp while the first rendering is running. Then when you start a second rendering, it will start in a new rendering window, rather than closing the first rendering window.

Of course, two renderings will take at least, (read as "more than"), twice as long as a single rendering, and should probably never be done unless you have a 64-bit machine and 4GB or more RAM.

Since the information for bot renderings is stored in the same place, (%TEMP%\nxt_batch), onky the second of the two renderings can be changed and then restarted. If you try to restart the first rendering, it will use the geometry, view and other settings of the second rendering when it restarts.

If you want to be able to modify and restart both renderings, then you need to specify separate forldes for storing the rendering information, See Batch Rendering

If you have more than one computer available, then you can start each rendering on a separate computer. Again, see Batch Rendering

Also, if you get really serious and have save computers available, you can use the Render Farm

Thanks Al!

I checked out the batch rendering link and it seems to be working - a bit slower but good enough for now - I have four renders going at the moment and hopefully they will complete rendering through the night and be ready for tomorrow.

Unfortunately it's just the one PC for the time being but will definitely look into the render farm for next time!
