Hi,

It's almost a recurrent question.

Why does the glow channel, which I can't get working in rendering, is set to 4 in the UI and appear to be 0 in the lights query?

I also don't relly understand what the wattage corresponds to..

You have circled a light which says it's a face that was designated to be a light by setting the object properties, and you're also showing the material dialog, as it it was a face that is a light because its material is set to glow.

At first glance, I'd say it's probably  a bug in the Lights Query dialog.

We wrote that dialog to help us to find lights in the drawing, and we try to display as much information as we can to help locate and identify the lights, but I can easily imagine that the logic may be breaking down where we drill through the geometry and gather the information for the lights, especially if Override Intensity is used, or a face which is set to be a light source also has a material which has glow set.

If a face has light object properties set, then that will take precedence over the glow set to its material at render time.

If you can send me a small drawing where the Lights Query dialog doesn't work correctly, I'd appreciate it. Maybe just copy that face into a new drawing and see what it is.

Hi Rich,

In fact I think there is something very strange in this object (the TV). it seems corrupt lights.

In the joined model, I add several lights and I add glow properties to 2 materials.

Only the glow materials work. Ligths don't work, the image5, which glow on the cube, doesn't glow on the TV and the lights query only see 1 light !?!

Tested with MD17.

Regards

I wsn't able to upload the skp file.

The picture in the TV is not a Material, it is an Image.

Edit the component, and right click on the image and Explode it, to turn it into a face with a material. Then the picture that you see will be a material and you can assign glow to it.

Here's the result after I did that:

Thks Rich, ok for that I didn't know the trick.

What is strange is that the same thing on cube is also an image and it works !?!

I found why the other lights don't work. It's because the default wattage is 0.

I think it wasn't the case in previous version ?
