`Process light bulbs on invisible layers`does not seem to work in nested groups or components

Hi Al\Rich

`Process light bulbs on invisible layers`does not seem to work in nested groups or components

Tried a few tests on above - if I explode groups\comps the lights work on invisible layer but not without.

Using latest beta - KG15

Can you post or  send me a small model to test this on?

I can't seem to reproduce it, using a ceiling light in a box as a component, and then grouping 2 of the components.

Hi Rich

Still cannot upload so I have sent model via email - forum really needs fixing for IE9

We only apply the "Display Hidden Lamp" logic for lamp components at the "top" level.

Not only is this easier for us, but it save us the time of having to read through every component in invisible layers to see if it is a lamp.

If it is important, we will consider adding "yet another" option to the system to optionally search for nested lamps on invisible layers. (We always try to add things which clients want) But we would prefer to leave it the say it is and change the documentation.

Hi

Its not really a problem now I know - I will have to make sure the comps\groups are exploded - I only really use the switch when rendering sectioned plans and these are usually in the minority. Its really useful to group lights in components to change lamp render details on mass - exploding fine but a real pain if you have to change lamp setting afterwards - with the current model that is approx 20-30 fittings\lamps which would have to be individually set if not nested in component. Would the nested component (not group) work if I changed all elements to RPS lamp layer - therefore switching off that layer in model ?

Thanks

Yes, if you place one of our lamps, a spotlight, point light, linear, or ceiling light,  in a particular layer, and then turn off that layer, then the lights will illuminate if `Process light bulbs on invisible layers`  is checked.

Shown below a rendering of a model that has 4 such lights in the "RPS_lamps" layer, nested in components, which are nested in a group, where the lights still illuminate when  that layer turned off.

This trick does not work with the Floor and Table lamps. They would have to be edited to put the point light component nested inside them to be a layer that you could turn off.

Attached is that model shown above, as a zip file.
