a little disappointed at no response.  Let me try this.  Working with the sketchup default metal material Metal_Aluminum_Anoidzed.  I edited it in nxt - metallic with .90 intensity and 1.00 sharpness.  Applied it to base of the counter and the 2 columns.  Columns look like a nice polished stainless, counter base just looks dull.  There is noting in front of this model so realize there is nothing to reflect.....so why do the columns look so much better and how do I get a base to look the same?

Al....any chance of getting any guidance or insight?

To me it looks like the column is the object that doesn't look right. I guess I'd have to go to a site that had mirror surfaces on a round column to see what that is supposed to look like. A flat reflective surface would not have any high lights in the reflection, would it?

Could you make a small model with these materials and upload it here, so that we can try it?

If you put it in a zip file, it can be attached to a reply using the Upload Files option.

Thanks.
