I'm new and just getting started with Sketchup and am using the trial version of IRender. I tried rendering an animation and it saved it as a .avi file that won't open in Windows Movie Maker, Windows Player, VLC, or open on my work mates Mac.

Is there a codec I need to install to get this to open? And why .avi? Why not save to an Mpeg4 that is more popular? Hopefully I can get this sorted out.

Thanks,

Dan

Take a look at this forum discussion about different codecs:

http://forum.irendernxt.com/forum/topics/animation-codec-error-in-i...

It also discusses saving the frames for the animation as PNG or JPEG files, so that you can use another program to assemble your movie. That way you could make your Mpeg4 file.

Thanks Rich,

I didn't realize that button was a drop down to the different video options. I tried using the Intel IYUV codec in the drop down list and it worked fine.

Thanks again,

oops, looks like I hit the wrong reply button.

Thanks for the update.
