Al:

I'm having an issue with the tree and material libraries....every time I go to retrieve a pre-made tree the program says that the libraries are not loaded and would I like to load them? I do so, then it happens again....Catch 22 if you will. Am I doing something wrong or not doing something I should be doing?

Help me out.........

Thanks again,

Chris

BTW: I like the new photo gallery format.

I just posted a new version of IRender nXt that has a dialog you can use to fix this.

It on the Options/More/Support/Folders tab, and lets you browse to the folder where you just installed the libraries and set the location.

Could you try that and let me know if this fixes it for you?

Rich:

I'm not thinking that is the issue. What I'm having an issue with is this:

1. I select the "leave" icon in the toolbar and it takes me to what you see in the attached image.

2. As you can see, there's nothing there.

3. The trees are where they are supposed to be in the files, but I get nothing. They are in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Render Plus Systems\RP Tree Maker\nXt Plants folder. The folder has Small, Medium and Large Tree subfolders that do have files in them.

It seems that there may be some sort of path that's missing for the "leave" icon to work right. It worked fine many versions ago (don't know which on unfortunately).

In any event, once I find the folder...then what do I do with them? How does one use them. It really doesn't make sense that I have to browse for them. Isn't there a way to establish their location and be done with it? It's probably there already; I just don't know how to make it right.

Let me,

Chris

Aha! Thanks for the image. It shows me that you are wondering why the "AR3" plants aren't showing up.

Those AR3 plants are kept in files with a .plib extension. We look for those files in the folders that are displayed on the Options/More/Support/Folders dialog. Here's my folders:

If I look in "C:\Program Files\Render Plus Systems\Accurender Libraries" (the 4th one listed above... the "nXt Library Folder") I see 3 ".plib"  files:

So I see 3 libraries listed when I open the AR3 Plant dialog:

So...the easiest thing to do would be to set the "nXt Library Folder" to be the folder where you have those .plib files. We install those other 2 libraries "Accurender.plib" and "Ar2_plants.plb" with the IRender nXt Libraries install, which you've probably installed several times now...so you must have them somewhere. The trick is to point the "nXt Library Folder" to wherever you installed them last. That new button that I just added, rhe "Specify Location of nXt Library Folder" button, makes it easier to set that location, by browsing for the "Materials" sub-folder it always contains.

Does that all make sense?

Rich:

I apparently got all of that to work, however when I select a pre-made tree and it gets rendered, SketchUp locks up - see attached image. As I recall the rendered tree is supposed to be placed with-in the drawing....never get to that point before it "SketchUp not responding" message hits.

Also, on the tree rendering window there is a button that's called "Save Tree Image". Where does the saved image go to and can it be used in the model somehow later? (assuming I can find it).

Thanks,

Chris

What happens is that we render the tree that you selected, so that we have an image to place in the SketchUp model to represent the tree. When the rendering is "Done", then you're supposed to click on that "Save Tree Image" to continue the process. (Obviously we need to make this a little more intuitive.)

We then make a component, using that tree image, that you can place in the drawing. SketchUp will be hung until you click on that "Save Tree Image" button.

Then you should get a cursor with a tree image component on it that you can place in the drawing, or save to the disk later if you want, like any other component.

Try that.

Rich:

Yeah, that works.........the more intuitive thing is correct..........you could change it to say..."Save Tree Image and Place in Model".........it's a bit long but more clear

Chris
