Hello,

I tried to set the "reflective bounces" value in the Preset tab and saw that when I select the Light Tab, "Reflective bounces" value stayed to the default value.

What is the right one?

Again, I wonder if it's a good thing the have the same info in different places and in fact, Preset ta is maybe not absolutely indispensable.

Regards,

Alain

There are 3 different "bounces" settings.

  • Reflective Bounces is the number of times a reflection is processed in multiple mirror-like surfaces
  • Refractive Bounces is the number of times images are processed through transparent surfaces
  • Indirect Bounces is the number of time light (rather than just the reflection of images) is processed as it bounces off of surfaces.

Each of these settings is available on only one tab.

I don't see any of these on the Presets Tab. The presets tab displays most, but not all of the items which are changed when you select one of the preset lighting conditions. Indirect Light (but not bounces) is on the preset tab, because the High Dynamic and Exterior presets turn it off while the interior presets turn it on. I put it there so people would know it was changing.

Reflective and Refractive Bounces are on the Render Tab, but not Indirect Lighting Bounces.

Indirect Bounces are on the lighting tab.

You are right, I made a msitake with the Render tab and I certainly made a confusion with the different bounces types.

Very interesting to know.

THanks Al
