I'm working on a big project with many details. The problem is that the render process takes very long time, more than 8 hours for a pass. Then after a single pass the render window just shut down. So I can't make any progress.I have a Quad Core Intel i5-2500K (3.3-3.7 GHz) CPU w/ 3GB memory PC, running 32-bit Windows 7 Home.I assume my PC configuration is powerful enough, but is there a way I can utilize other PCs I have on my LAN as a grid/cluster to make it work faster?

Actually, a 64-bit machine with 4GB or more RAM will have a better chance of rendering without failing if you have one available.
Or you can try to make the model smaller somehow.
Some people have had luck rendering parts of the model individually and then sewing the images together in a paint program.
Finally, if you get everything OK so you can render multiple passes, you can set up a render farm to render the job faster. A Render Farm would have 4 or more machines each processing a "slice" of the overall job.
Another thing - when the rendering window comes up - during the first pass - right click on the title bar and click "statistics". Scroll down and check the number of lights. If there are way too many lights, then there may be an object which you made into a light which is processing as too many individual lights. If so, try replacing it with a light bulb from the library instead.
