Additional Lighting Channel in latest image editor ?

Is the additional channel (channel 8) in image editor for the backgroung HDR channel ?

It's to support the planar HDR backgrounds. (from Roy)

We haven't looked into the planar HDR backgrounds yet. We'll have to see what we need to do to implement them.

You know what I am going to say about channels ! _ I must admit I ran out of channels again this week on a render ( I have not presented it to client yet but will upload after presentation)
