Testing New Beta Version

Jan 11, 2011

We are making the new Beta Test version available only to Beta Testers until we get some feedback and are able to stabilize it better.

Use this new Beta if you want to test the new Render Farm, or want to try the new nXtImage editor.

Otherwise, just use the stable version.

You can download this Beta Version from: Downloads

This has a couple of interesting features:

  Combined Image Editor

We have combined the IRender nXt Post Processing and the nXtImage Post Processing into a single interface.

  • You can switch to "nXtImage" mode after rendering by clicking the FX icon and selecting the Image Effects tab.
(You will be asked before it switches - because this can take several seconds)
  • The old icons - Lighting Channels, Tone Operator and Material Channels will work in "Render" mode - without converting to nXtImage format. However, Depth of Field, Haze, Vignette and Glare require that we switch to nXtImage format - which requires that we save and reload the nXtImage file.
  • Once you switch to nXtImage format, all post processing features are available at the same time.
  • However, if you click the re-render button, you will switch back to "Render" format.

Try this out and let us know what you think.

 Render Farm

Rich has interfaced the new Render Farm.

  • You can test the Render Farm onup to two Farm Machines.
(Currently you have to install the Render Farm on your SketchUp machine as well. However we will be fixing this in future versions)
  • Our documentation on how to use the farm is here: Render Farm

Let me know if you get a chance to test it. There are still a few rough spots, and thanks for "volunteering" to be our guinea pig for this.

We uploaded a new Beta version, KA13.

This has a few fixes to the Render Farm routines and adds a toolbar button to load and edit saved nXtImages, using our new Image Editor.

It can be downloaded fro:

It's further down the page than it used to be, to make it harder for new users to download by mistake.

Hi rich

Download Links do not seem to be working as of 10.00am GMT

Thanks. It should be running again now.

A new version, KA14, is now posted with fixes for these reported bugs in the new nXt Image Editor:

  • Cannot saved image after editing.
  • Lighting channels not set when loading an image.

A new version, KA17, is now posted with fixes for these reported bugs in the new nXt Image Editor:

  • RGB/HSL button on the Material Channel dialog is fixed.
  • Material Channels now saved when .nXtImage is saved.
  • Contrast setting is now saved with .nXtImage, along with Foreground and Background image settings.
  • SketchUp Bug Splat fixed when rendering a model after using the Render Farm.

A new version, KA18, is now posted with fixes for these reported bugs in the Render Farm interface:

  • The size for the Render Farm was not using the correct SketchUp Window aspect ratio.
  • An error was thrown when the Batch folder specified no longer was a valid folder.
  • The Render Farm was not being saved and started automatically, if Launch Farm Displayer was not checked. It will now save the Job files, and start the job when specified, w/o loading the Farm Displayer.

Thank you to all who have been testing these new features!

A new version, KA21, is now posted with fixes for these reported bugs in the Render Farm interface:

  • Starting a rendering from the Green button on the Options dialog will no longer start a Render Farm Job.

This version also automatically uses the 64 bit version of the Batch Renderer for 64 bit machines, unless you specify not to use it on the Support dialog. This was added to allow larger rendering to be edited in the new nXtImage editor.

A new beta version, KA26, is now posted with fixes for these reported bugs:

  • Saved Transparent PNG images did not not preserve the colors set using Material Channels.
  • Material Channels were not being preserved when converting to the nXtImage format, when using the FX toolbar button in the Render Window.

I had to rebuild and repost the KA26 version, since the 64 bit version if the renderer was not included in the last post.

If you downloaded this earlier today, and you're running on a 64 bit operating system, please just download and install it again.

The new zip file that you download will have a "KA26nxtb" in the file name.

We posted a new Beta, KA28, with these fixes:

  • Fixed some bugs we found in the nXtImage editor affecting material channels
  • Fixed a problem with the "Add to Model" button in the Select Material to Place or Edit dialog
  • Fixed the install to warn the user if a reboot is necessary after the install

We have also placed this same version as the new Stable download.

Ok Rich but it seems there is again a problem with the download link.

Regards,

Alain

I can download it, both the Beta and the new Stable posting.

What are you seeing?
