Is there a maximum image size for iRender nxt beta? I have rendered large images before with older versions but all my attempts so far are crashing.
I am ultimately trying to render an image at 8' x 4''
Any thoughts?

There are no fixed limits, but some sizes may be too big. If we need to, (and if you have a 64-bit machine), we can create a 64-bit version of the renderer to allow larger sizes.
For testing, try to render a small model to a large size and see what happens (and then send us the model) Use Windows Task manager to see how much RAM the IRenderBatch process is trying to use.
What resolution are you using? 75 DPI at 8' x 4' would be 7200 x 3600 - this is 25 million pixels. We require several bytes per pixel, (at least 32 bytes), so we could easily need 600 meg of RAM just to store the image. (We need more to hold and process the model)
I just did a test rendering at 3,600 x 1,800, (6,480,000 pixels) at it took 283 meg of RAM (you can check this with Windows task Manager while rendering). When I increased it to 7,200 x 3,600, (25,920,000 pixels) ( it jumped to 1,144 meg of ram. So the extra 19,440,000 pixels used 861,000,000 additional bytes of ram. (about 44 bytes of RAM per pixel).
Based on this, I suspect you can render as large as 3,600 x 1,800, (even with a larger database), but for higher resolutions, we will need to get you a 64-bit version of the renderer.
We have placed some 64-bit stuff in the latest Beta version.
Download the beta from Downloads. (It is near the bottom, because we don't want people using this Beta version unless they want to try one of the new features - 64 bit, Render Farm or the new Post Processing image editor)
To try 64 bit - load the support dialog from the "More" setup tab and check Use 64 bit Batch Renderer.
To test it render a model to a really large size - say 9,000 x 9,000 and watch it in the Windows Task Manager to see if IRenderBatch is able to use more than 2GB RAM.
