Problems rendering animation

Hi,

 

I checked that all the viewer windows where closed, but still get the error message!

For 32 bit, we use the CInepak, "CVID".

For a 64 bit machine, we use the Microsoft Video 1 codec, "MSVC", since the Cinepak codec didn't work for us in 64 bit.

You could try to download and install those codecs on your machine.

If you are using a 64 bit machine, you could try checking the box on the  IRender/Support dialog ot use the 32 bit Batch Renderer, to use the other codec. That might work for you.

We did not allow for any way for you to select different codecs for the animation. We felt that if someone needed other codec that those two, that they would probaly be using a different program to assemble hte animations, and just use our plugin to save the JPG or PNG files that they could later use to make the animation.

We just always use one of those popular codecs, and have not heard of anyone not being able to use those codecs. We should show you the name of the codec that is failing in our error message, so that you cold at least try to download and install that codec. I'll add that to the error message.

You can still use the animation program to save all the still image files for the animation, and then use another program to assemble the image files into the movie. I can use PhotoShop to do that, but there are other programs that will let you do that. In those programs you can select your own codec.

If you don't have another way to stitch the still files together, I have a test program that I wrote that will do it. It allows you to select a folder of images that we have saved, and then specify a codec to use to stitch the images together to crate the .avi file.

I'll see if I can find that program and post it for you.

Would you have a link for the Microsoft Video 1 codec to download?

I've tryed downloading 1 but this didn't work!

Also how would switch to using the 32 bit batch render to see if that would work?

I don't have a particular link for downloading codecs. I've always just found they were installed when I installed Windows. When I search for "Microsoft Video 1 codec download", I get pointed to a page referring to a particular version of WIndows media player and I don't know what version of WIndows, or Windows media player, that you have installed.

What exactly happened when you downloaded a version to install and it didn't work?

 

To render using the 32 bit batch render, you go to the Options/More tab and click on support. There is a check box there for "Use 32 bit batch Renderer". Just check that box before starting the animation to use the 32 bit renderer instead of the 64 bit version.
